Ponta Da Piedale, Lagos

4.8
#1 of 133 in Parks in Faro District
Tall, pointy rock formations appear out of the turquoise waters at Ponta Da Piedale, and collections of arches and grottos connect the secluded beaches with one another. Visit the golden sand beaches nestled at the base to see these geological rarities--they're up to 20 m (60 ft) tall--or explore the tunnels and mazes of the area via a small fishing vessel. Seek out an organized boat tour, walk along the shore, or simply hike on your own along a nature trail that leads to the top of the rock formations via more than 180 stairs. More adventurous visitors can rent kayaks here. Put Ponta Da Piedale on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Lagos driving holiday planning site .

  • We had rented a car during our first week of holiday in the Algarve. We left Albufeira, direction "ponta da piedade". You can park your car on a roadside and go on an excursion and discover the most beautiful beaches of the Algarve! We hiked all day and took a full look. Beware of some beaches that are very difficult to access, you have to do a little climbing so take sneakers with your swimsuit! There's a bridge that joins everything you need to see. If you want to admire the view, don't hesitate to get off the bridge and get close cautiously !!!!

  • Absolutely magical place. Beautiful views and not only in a specific direction. It is worth visiting no matter what time of day. Recommend!

  • Beautiful place with lots of opportunities for beautiful photography. You can use a safe walkway, or be on the cliffs themselves, but you'll have to be careful if you do. It can be very windy here, so if you freeze easily it could be an idea to bring warmer clothes.
  • Gorgeous area to spend a few areas relaxing by the cliffs and water. Many great "secret" trails help to spread out the tourists so that the area doesn't feel too crowded. However, parking in the area can be difficult would recommend carpooling, taking the beach bus or taking a bike out here instead of driving.
