There are many aspects of Falua, the biggest being a wide variety of movements both with hands and forearms (simple and compound movements). To visit Falua Massage on your trip to Porto, use our Porto tour itinerary planner .
In a regular massage, let´s say, if the movements are simple and repetitive the person on the table can easily follow what is being done and thus does not relax, is not induced into a deep relaxation state because they are conscious. When you ramp up the variety and introduce well-rehearsed seamless transitions between the movements such that the person on the table cannot know where one ends and another begins, after awhile, and trusting that they are dealing with a professional, they give up trying to follow and drift into a NREM stage 1 or stage 2 sleep state. We still works on your muscles but in a way you do not notice, in a way that you´re relaxed. We are present but invisible at the same time.
We do this by planning a well defined Falua protocol, where definition and intention are key - we know exactly where we want to go, and we are very confident about it, we do not hesitate, as hesitation would break your NREM sleep state much like when you are asleep in a moving car and when it stops you wake up - add distribution and equilibrium of movements spread out symmetrically throughout the body and excellent "layering" techniques - this is where in one movement it feels like 2 or 3 different movements are going on at the same time - and with what we call full-handship and presence, we are very much in the moment, and we are able to provide you with one of the better full-body massages you can get.
And so why is it very hard to find Falua?
Well, first of all it is ours, you need to come to Portugal - and second, it takes a long time to master and not everyone wants to put in the time. But we do, and this is why we ask for your help in spreading the Falua message.
