Climb to the top of Torre dos Clerigos, an iconic symbol of the city. This tower behind the Clérigos Church was built in the mid-18th century. Its design contains aspects of Roman Baroque architecture, though it is modeled after Tuscan-style bell towers. While this structure can be seen from various places in the city--making it one of the most recognized sites of Porto and a compass for lost travelers--you can't fully experience the tower until you ascend the 240 steps to its peak. Once you reach the top of this six-floor trek, you will be rewarded with incredible views of the ancient city. Torre dos Clerigos Reviews
Es recomendable subir a la torre, hay unas vistas impresionantes de toda la ciudad y en cada lado de la torre te va dando información de lo que se ve desde ese ángulo. There are 240 stairs to reach the tower and the last sections are a little narrow especially because of the influx of people going up and down, but it is worth climbing.
Bellissima vista dall'altro della città e bellissima architettura, all'inizio avevo un pò paura ma poi è passata... da riandarci sicuramente! more »Beautiful view from the other side of the city and beautiful architecture, at first I was a bit afraid but then it passed... to definitely go back!
I'm not much one for churches as I'm not really religious. You can walk around the church and at the time we was there, it wasn't too busy. For anyone religious this part is a must see. What was breath taking was the view from the top. Although the walk up can take a little while due to the narrow stairs, when you are at the top you get a 360 degree view of the city. The top of the tower also gives you a bit of info on other attractions and where they are in relation to where you stand. Overall, very worth while for 5 euros.
The church is nice but the tower is the real jewel of the visit. The top of the tower is the highest point in the historic center of Porto. Great 360 view of the city. Don't miss it! There is also a lookout midway to the top.
