Palacio Nacional de Sintra, Sintra

4.2
The historic Palacio Nacional de Sintra represents the most well-preserved medieval palace in Portugal. You can tour the palace, which was named a National Monument and World Heritage Site, for a closer look at the preservation and restoration. This castle dates back to the 10th century and was inhabited from at least the 15th through 19th centuries. While it was built in Moorish times, its architectural style is a result of rebuilding in the 1400s. View the mixture of Gothic, Manueline, Mudéjar, and Moorish style present today, as well as decorative ceramic tiles added to the site during the Age of Discoveries. • First and foremost you have to go with shoes very very comfortable and patience, we went and HIGH season visits, Ay from the 1st bus was collapsed, when we got to the second BUS station. (It changes to a smaller bus) this Demoo 2 hour The place is also the train station, option TWO to arrive train There is also take a few small bikes with 4 or 6 seats. (TUKU TUKU) These go very fast and come faster to the palace. I don't recommend going to the car itself. In short the place is in L Ácima and your view is amazing. There is a bar and restaurant. This visit takes a day because you have to walk a lot. There is an option of a small Bus that carries laude the entrance to the top (7 minutes but it is worth). The Ticket S is purchased at the entrance and is ROUNDTRIP (not sold the back alone).

  • Great place to visit. Interior well maintained and easy to walk round with good descriptions. Plenty of nice things to see, high quality designs. Good views across the area too and easy to get to from the main station. Good food places too. Highly recommended.
  • Sintra as a whole was gorgeous, the national palace is a place you have to see when you visit. The area surrounding is colourful, the walks were relaxing amongst the nature. Quite a few places to eat, stopped for ice cream nearby. A good place for a day trip. Sintra was my favourite place in Portugal, I wish I explored it more.
