Peles Castle, Sinaia

4.6
Explore the rich interiors of Peles Castle, furnished with Murano crystal chandeliers, stained-glass windows, gold and silver plates, and ebony and ivory sculptures. This 19th-century royal castle, named after the neighboring brooks, was built of wood, bricks, stone, and marble. It features over 160 rooms with lots of wood carvings. Some walls here are covered with Cordoba leather, and the armory rooms house a robust weapon collection. Visit the reception room to see paintings and wooden sculptures depicting the castles of the Hohenzollerns. The seven terraces surrounding the castle are decorated with Italian statues, fountains, and ornamental vases. Nearby attractions include guards' chambers, a hunting house, royal stables, and a power plant. • Beautiful Castle in a beautiful place. We went from Bucharest to Sinaia by train. The road to the castle is quite long, I recommend going up quietly. The castle is beautiful, just like the surrounding gardens. If you have a short time and do not know whether to visit Bran Castle (the Dracula) or Peles, I definitely recommend you visit the de Peles.

  • Absolutely beautiful - from the outside and the inside. It is the most ornate thing I've seen inside, and its rooms feature many different styles from all over the world. The architecture is astounding. I thoroughly recommend having the full tour. I've done Bran castle as well, and can say that this one is FAR superior
  • We were amazed at the splendor of the castle and furnishings. It looks as though someone could live there today, it was so clean and fresh. Our guide was informative and patient with us and told us "side" stories that made the tour both informative and interesting. The extra cost to take photos was well worth it. Overall, this is an excellent place to visit.
