Frederic Mares Museum (Museu Frederic Mares) Reviews
The religious art collection is beautiful, extensive and presented thoughtfully. But there is so much more to see in the museum. I was blown away by the various collections in the upper floors. more »
Located in a lane way near the Cathedral de Catalunya this museum is worth a look. Has a large number of items on display across multiple floors. I suggest getting the audioguide for the additional.... more »
Interesting museum with a large collection of religious statues and artwork. Upstairs is his personal collection which was astounding. Millions of items from keys to menus, mini figurines, cigars, hand fans, clocks, etc. If you go on Sundays after 15:00 admission is free.
Amazing collection of beautiful objects including religious sculptures, fans, pottery, metalwork and textiles. The cool, quiet interior of the museum was a welcome and peaceful break from the busy streets outside. There are such a variety of items on display and the old display cabinets themselves are lovely, I found myself intrigued by items I didn't even think I would be interested in. I just wish there had been a bit more interpretation in the upper floors so I knew what some of the more obscure things were or when pieces dated from.
