Museo Cerralbo, Madrid

4.6
The Marquis of Cerralbo loved to collect items from the many museums he visited across Europe in the late 19th century and early 20th century, and today his Museo Cerralbo is home to some 50,000 objects. Inside the Marquis' former palace, view paintings, sculptures, ceramics, glass, tapestries, furniture, antique coins, drawings, engravings, clocks, arms, armor, and artifacts. The museum offers a few options for guided visits: an audio guide, a professional guide, or a volunteer cultural guide. The latter is available on a limited schedule, so check to see if volunteers are offering their service during your visit. • Really interesting place to walk round and they give you a big booklet which contains information about each room. The tickets are cheap, not overpriced like the other museums. Well worth a visit.  more »
  • Very interesting museum that was private house and that preserves everything that its owners collected because it is the condition that he put in when donating it to Madrid (as explained). It has all paintings, jewelry, sculptures, armor, etc... And the house has no waste because it has a curious library and a great dance room, the furniture, the garden..... You better check it out!

  • A must see in Madrid. Fabulous and slightly eccentric collection. The ballroom is amazing. Go and enjoy. Only complaint is the gardens are always closed when I have been which is a shame. But a truly special place, oh and the stairway....
  • Loved this pLace! If you are into palaces, castles and mansions you should go here. Very over the top and amazing.
