more »Alameda Park connects the old town with the new city. Near the entrance is a statue of two Marias who appeared in the park in fancy clothes as if shouting freedom during the Franco dictatorship. There was a puppet show nearby for children. It is a place of the citizens' relaxation. In the evening, you can see the old town from this park and see the cathedral shining in the sunset. It's a great spot.
Home of a real family friendly fun fair for Ascension Weekend every year in Santiago. Lovely to see families out and about late at night sharing space with teens and other gangs of youths. All behaving themselves, having a bit of fun and food n drink. No rivers of puke or mountains of rubbish and it was 3am. Great weekend
This is a large leafy space on the edge of the old city. Lots of shady trees with good seating throughout. There was even a couple of very large old eucalyptus trees providing some evergreen contrasting colour to the native species. There are also some great views back to the old city.
