Housed in what was once a home to Count and Countess von Hallwyl, Hallwyl Museum (Hallwylska Museet) gives a glimpse into the life of Swedish royalty, particularly during the Victorian period. The estate was given to the Swedish government in 1920 on the grounds that it would remain unaltered. Today you can walk the halls of this preserved historical home, which exhibits about 50,000 objects and artifacts collected by its former tenants. The Countess acquired many pieces of art during her travels with the intention of eventually founding a museum. Along with the Skokloster Castle and the Royal Armory, this national museum is part of a government agency grouping that educates visitors on the history of Sweden. Hallwyl Museum (Hallwylska Museet) Reviews
Dieses Museum ist recht altertümlich gemacht, es wirkt daher eher langweilig mit seinen Vitrinen und angestaubter Art von Ausstellung. Auch wenn es um Antikes geht, könnte man es ansprechender und nic... more »This museum is quite old-fashioned, so it seems rather boring with its display cases and dusted kind of exhibition. Even when it comes to antiquity, you could present it more appealing and not just in Swedish.
En mycket intressant upplevelse att besöka detta musem. Ett museum vi inte hört om tidigare trots otaliga besök i Stockholm. En fenomenal ide i tiderna att bevara palatsets som det var för eftervärden... more »A very interesting experience to visit this musem. A museum we have not heard about before despite countless visits to Stockholm. A phenomenal idea in the times to preserve the palace as it was for Eftervärden. We participated in a guided tour that is recommended if you want to experience the entire museum's history. A very dedicated guide that could his thing and told about the house and the residents history in very ispirerande way.
We had the free visit, which gives you the main idea about the house, but you can also get an extended visit with a guide if you are interested in seeing (and learning) more. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We spent about an hour here and we enjoyed every minute. Loved this place, the rooms were beautifully decorated and overall very impressive. Definitely recommend!
Good place to visit to get a taste of old swedish way of life. The place is worth visiting because to get the view of the tapestries and furniture which belonged to the family
