Maracas Beach, Port of Spain

Just outside Port of Spain, Maracas Beach attracts visitors with its scenic white-sand beach surrounded by mountains. The beach is renowned for its famous huts that sell "shark and bake," deep-fried shark meat baked in dough. Relax in the thick shade of palm trees, soak up some sun, and enjoy the views of the aquamarine waters contrasting the verdant hills. Driving up to the beach, you'll encounter a panoramic viewpoint and a shop that sells traditional sweets. • Great for a day out at weekend but go early and come back early of you want to avoid the crowds
  • We went early morning to avoid traffic and were delighted to see not many people are there at the beach. Had great and peaceful time . Bathing areas are neat and decent. Quite a lovely experience.
