Santiago tourism thrives largely thanks to the city's big selection of cultural and entertainment options, including museums, theaters, restaurants, bars, and giant malls.
For shopping fun, head to Central Market (Mercado Central) or Costanera Center. Museum-lovers will appreciate La Chascona and Centro Cultural Palacio de la Moneda y Plaza de la Ciudadania. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Santiago: Vina Undurraga (in Talagante), Hacienda Picarquin (in Rancagua) and Machali (Museo de la Gran Mineria de Cobre & Sewell). There's more to do: do a tasting at Concha y Toro and contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Iglesia de La Merced.

Cultural capital of South America, Buenos Aires remains one of the largest cities on the continent, serving as a point of departure for exploring the rest of the country.
Shop till you drop at Puerto Madero and Recoleta. You'll discover tucked-away gems like Basilica de Lujan and Basilica del Santisimo Sacramento. Change things up with a short trip to Museo de La Plata in La Plata (about 1h 15 min away). There's still lots to do: take a stroll through San Telmo, see the interesting displays at Fragata ARA Sarmiento, admire the masterpieces at Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, and get to know the fascinating history of La Boca.

Traveling by flight from Santiago to Buenos Aires takes 5.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. The time zone changes from Chile Time to Argentine Time, which is usually a 1 hour difference. In September, plan for daily highs up to 20°C, and evening lows to 13°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 10th (Tue) to allow enough time to travel to Punta del Este.

Let the collections at Museo del Mar and Museo - Taller de Casapueblo capture your imagination. Your inner history buff will appreciate Capilla San Rafael and Catedral de San Fernando de Maldonado. When in Punta del Este, make a side trip to see Parque Salto del Penitente in Minas, approximately 1h 20 min away. There's much more to do: identify plant and animal life at Arboretum Lussich, pause for some serene contemplation at Iglesia Candelaria, admire the masterpieces at Ralli Museum, and discover the deep blue sea with a scuba or snorkeling tour.
