Founded in 1535 by Spanish explorer Francisco Pizarro, Lima represents an interesting blend of modern attractions and preserved colonial architecture, much of it clustered in the World Heritage-listed city center.
You'll explore and learn at Museo Larco and Galeria Indigo. Miraflores and Centro Historico de Lima are good opportunities to explore the local culture. And it doesn't end there: wander the streets of Barranco, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Cathedral of Lima, explore the ancient world of Huaca Pucllana, and don't miss a visit to Circuito Magico Del Agua.

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to Lima is an approximately 8-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 2 hours traveling from Rio de Janeiro to Lima. Traveling from Rio de Janeiro in February, expect Lima to be a bit cooler, temps between 82°F and 70°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 6th (Thu) so you can travel to Puno.

Hugging the western tip of Lake Titicaca, Puno serves as a melting pot of indigenous and imported cultures, and makes a great base for explorations around the region.
Start off your visit on the 7th (Fri): head off the coast to Taquile Island, delve into the distant past at Sillustani, then contemplate the waterfront views at Lake Titicaca, and finally examine the collection at Museo Carlos Dreyer. On the next day, don't miss a visit to Catedral de Puno, wander the streets of Luquina Chico, then head off the coast to Uros Floating Islands, then explore the galleries of Museo de la Coca y Costumbres, and finally contemplate the long history of La Casa del Corregidor.

Fly from Lima to Puno in 4 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of flight and train; or drive. When traveling from Lima in February, plan for little chillier days in Puno, with highs around 64°F, while nights are colder with lows around 40°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 8th (Sat) to allow enough time to travel to Ollantaytambo.

Retaining much of its centuries-old architecture, Ollantaytambo represents one of the world's finest examples of Incan city planning.
On the 9th (Sun), explore the ancient world of Archaeological Park Ollantaytambo, then examine the collection at Choco Museo, then contemplate the long history of Sacred Valley of the Incas, and finally indulge your thirst for a good beer at Cerveceria del Valle Sagrado. On your second day here, explore the ancient world of Inca Quarries, delve into the distant past at Sitio arqueológico Pinkuylluna, sample the tasty concoctions at Cerveceria Willkamayu, steep yourself in history at Salinas de Maras, then see the interesting displays at Yucay Museo de Cultura Viva, and finally stop by Misha Wasi.

Traveling by combination of bus and flight from Puno to Ollantaytambo takes 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. Expect a bit warmer evenings in Ollantaytambo when traveling from Puno in February, with lows around 46°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 10th (Mon) early enough to catch the train to Machu Picchu.
