Built on seven hills, Lisbon has experienced a renaissance in recent years, making it the cultural star of Portugal.
Step off the beaten path and head to Castelo dos Mouros and Miradouro da Cruz dos Remedios. Escape the urban bustle at Cabo da Roca and Nature & Wildlife Tours. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Lisbon: Praia da Nazare (in Nazare) and Sintra (Park and National Palace of Pena & Quinta da Regaleira). Dedicate the 1st (Sun) to wine at some of the top wineries in the area. There's still lots to do: take in the spiritual surroundings of Jeronimos Monastery, examine the collection at National Tile Museum, take an in-depth tour of Carmo Archaeological Museum, and wander the streets of Belém Tower.

Porto Alegre, Brazil to Lisbon is an approximately 14-hour flight. You can also do a combination of bus and flight. You'll lose 3 hours traveling from Porto Alegre to Lisbon due to the time zone difference. When traveling from Porto Alegre in September, plan for somewhat warmer days in Lisbon, with highs around 32°C, while nights are about the same with lows around 19°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 6th (Fri) to allow enough time to drive to Evora.
