Algarve Region's largest fishing port, Olhao occupies a strategically important coastal area inhabited since prehistoric times.
You'll enjoy a bit of beach vacationing at Garrao Nascente Beach and Praia Monte Gordo. Get outdoors at Dolphin & Whale Watching and Ria Formosa. Change things up with a short trip to Cabanas de Tavira beach in Cabanas (about 34 minutes away). The adventure continues: steep yourself in history at Old Town Faro and enjoy breathtaking views from Camera Obscura.

The allure of the beaches and the town's historical center draw visitors to Lagos, a coastal destination in the Barlavento region of the Algarve.
Visit Praia Da Rocha and Falesia Beach for some beach relaxation. Visiting Praia da Marinha and Dolphin & Whale Watching will get you outdoors. Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Lagos: Praia do Peneco (in Albufeira) and Praia do Carvalho (in Carvoeiro). Built on seven hills, Lisbon has experienced a renaissance in recent years, making it the cultural star of Portugal.
Museu Nacional do Azulejo and Igreja de Sao Roque will appeal to museum buffs. Get some cultural insight at Museu Calouste Gulbenkian and Park and National Palace of Pena. Step out of Lisbon to go to Sintra and see Quinta da Regaleira, which is approximately 36 minutes away. The adventure continues: wander the streets of Alfama, steep yourself in history at Mosteiro dos Jeronimos, take an in-depth tour of Carmo Archaeological Museum, and see the interesting displays at Fundacao Jose Saramago.

You can drive from Lagos to Lisbon in 3 hours. Other options are to take a bus; or do a combination of bus and flight. Traveling from Lagos in July, Lisbon is little chillier at night with lows of 20°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 7th (Sun) to allow enough time to travel to Porto.

Called "Oporto" by many, the city of Porto along the Duoro River lent the country and Port wine their names. Portugal's second-largest metropolis dates back to the 4th century, representing both a rich cultural past and industrial present through its architecture and style.
Do some cultural sightseeing at Porto Cathedral (Se Catedral) and Museu Serralves. Let the collections at Museu Nacional de Soares dos Reis and Casa do Infante capture your imagination. Spend the 9th (Tue) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. And it doesn't end there: snap pictures at Ponte de Dom Luis I, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Igreja dos Carmelitas, and steep yourself in history at Palacio da Bolsa.

Traveling by flight from Lisbon to Porto takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or drive. Expect little chillier weather when traveling from Lisbon in July: highs in Porto hover around 28°C, while lows dip to 17°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 10th (Wed) so you can travel back home.
