The site of the continent's first Spanish colony, Cartagena retains much of its colonial flavor thanks to a World Heritage-listed old town, encircled by old walls and protected by imposing fortresses.
You'll visit kid-friendly attractions like Aviario Nacional de Colombia and Iglesia de la Trinidad. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Barrio Getsemani and Plaza de San Diego. Step out of Cartagena to go to Isla Baru and see Playa Blanca, which is approximately 1h 5 min away. The adventure continues: take in the spiritual surroundings of Templo de Santo Domingo, explore the historical opulence of Castillo de San Felipe de Barajas, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Sanctuary of Saint Peter Claver, and make a trip to Plaza de La Trinidad.
