Founded in 1535 by Spanish explorer Francisco Pizarro, Lima represents an interesting blend of modern attractions and preserved colonial architecture, much of it clustered in the World Heritage-listed city center.
Lima is known for parks, historic sites, museums, shopping, and nightlife. Your plan includes some of its best attractions: take an in-depth tour of Museo Larco, take a stroll through Barranco, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Iglesia y Convento de San Francisco, and get a taste of the local shopping with Shopping Center Larcomar (Centro Comercial Larcomar).

Sao Paulo, Brazil to Lima is an approximately 8.5-hour combination of bus and flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. The time zone difference moving from Brasilia Time to Peru Time is minus 2 hours. When traveling from Sao Paulo in July, plan for a bit cooler days and somewhat warmer nights in Lima: temperatures range from 22°C by day to 19°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 23rd (Tue) to allow time to travel to Maras.

Maras is a town in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, 40 kilometers north of Cuzco, in the Cuzco Region of Peru. On the 24th (Wed), stroll through Urubamba Weavers' Route, then see the interesting displays at Yucay Museo de Cultura Viva, then take in the dramatic natural features at Salinas de Maras, and finally steep yourself in history at Moray.

Do a combination of flight and taxi from Lima to Maras in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of bus and taxi. Plan for cooler nights when traveling from Lima in July since evenings lows in Maras dip to 1°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 24th (Wed) so you can travel to Machu Picchu.
