The word "Brazil" isn't often mentioned in the same breath as "excellent urban planning"--except in Curitiba.
Bring the kids along to Jardim Botanico de Curitiba and Parque Barigui. There's still lots to do: walk around Tangua Park.

Sao Paulo to Curitiba is an approximately 2.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. In December, plan for daily highs up to 30°C, and evening lows to 20°C. You'll have a few hours on the 21st (Tue) to wrap things up before traveling to Gramado.

You can do a combination of flight and bus from Curitiba to Gramado in 5.5 hours. Other options are to drive; or do a combination of bus and taxi. You'll have a few hours on the 26th (Sun) to wrap things up before traveling to Bento Goncalves.

Bento Goncalves

Founded in 1875, the young city of Bento Goncalves boasts a rich recent history and attractions that tastefully complement its surrounding natural features.
Take a break from Bento Goncalves with a short trip to Cristo in Guapore, about 1h 20 min away. There's still lots to do: whizz through the canopy at some of the top local zipline courses and adventure parks, tour in style with a train tour, and make a trip to Parque Cultural Epopeia Italiana.

Drive from Gramado to Bento Goncalves in 2 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 29th (Wed) so you can travel to Penha.

A trip to Penha usually starts at the town's major point of interest: one of the largest theme parks in Latin America.
