Hugging the western tip of Lake Titicaca, Puno serves as a melting pot of indigenous and imported cultures, and makes a great base for explorations around the region.
On the 5th (Tue), step off the mainland to explore Taquile Island, take some stellar pictures from Mirador Ing. Eduardo Sanchez, and then steep yourself in history at La Casa del Corregidor.

Manaus, Brazil to Puno is an approximately 20.5-hour flight. You can also drive. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 1 hour traveling from Manaus to Puno. Plan for colder temperatures traveling from Manaus in January, with highs in Puno at °C and lows at °C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 5th (Tue) to allow time to drive to Arequipa.

In an area dominated three imposing volcanoes, Arequipa vacations allow visitors to admire well-preserved colonial architecture in a dramatic setting.
On the 6th (Wed), pause for some serene contemplation at Iglesia de Yanahuara ( San Juan Bautista), thenview the masterpieces at Tristan del Pozo (Continental Bank Exhibition Gallery), and then explore the world behind art at San Francisco Plaza, Church and Monastery. Capital of the Inca Empire for three centuries, World Heritage-listed Cusco is now a major tourist destination, drawing nearly 2 million annual tourists with its well-preserved colonial architecture and proximity to Machu Picchu.
Give yourself a bit of retail therapy at Centro de Textiles Tradicionales del Cusco and Mercado Central de San Pedro. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Complejo Arqueologico Chinchero and Spas. Step out of Cusco with an excursion to Moray in Maras--about 1h 20 min away. There's much more to do: steep yourself in history at Sacsayhuaman, take in the dramatic natural features at Cerro Colorado Vinicunca, admire the masterpieces at Museo de Arte Precolombino, and explore the ancient world of Q'enqo.

Traveling by flight from Arequipa to Cusco takes 3 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. Expect little chillier evenings in Cusco when traveling from Arequipa in January, with lows around °C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 11th (Mon) early enough to travel to Paracas.

A port town largely devoted to tourism, Paracas serves as a popular starting point for exploration of Peru's south coast.
Get a sense of the local culture at Pukasoncco, Arte Precolombino. and Museo De Sitio Julio C Tello De Paracas. You'll discover tucked-away gems like Playa de la Mina and Playa Mendieta. Change things up with a short trip to Tambo Colorado in Humay (about 1h 10 min away). The adventure continues: stroll through Playa El Raspon, enjoy the sand and surf at Supay Beach, don't miss a visit to Plaza de Armas, and take an in-depth tour of Museo Arqueologico Paracas.

You can fly from Cusco to Paracas in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. Expect somewhat warmer temperatures when traveling from Cusco in January; daily highs in Paracas reach °C and lows reach °C. Founded in 1535 by Spanish explorer Francisco Pizarro, Lima represents an interesting blend of modern attractions and preserved colonial architecture, much of it clustered in the World Heritage-listed city center.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at MALI - Museo de Arte de Lima and Playa Santa Maria del Mar. Get a sense of the local culture at San Isidro and Basilica y Monasterio de Santo Domingo. When in Lima, make a side trip to see El Silencio in Punta Hermosa, approximately Punta Hermosa away. There's much more to do: admire the masterpieces at Museo MATE, walk around Parque Alfredo Salazar, take an in-depth tour of Museo Larco, and shop like a local with Shopping Center Larcomar (Centro Comercial Larcomar).
