Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to Lisbon is an approximately 13.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of bus and flight. The time zone changes from Brasilia Time (BRT) to Western European Time (WET), which is usually a 3 hour difference. Traveling from Rio de Janeiro in September, you can expect nighttime temperatures to be a bit cooler in Lisbon, with lows of 19°C. Called "Oporto" by many, the city of Porto along the Duoro River lent the country and Port wine their names. Portugal's second-largest metropolis dates back to the 4th century, representing both a rich cultural past and industrial present through its architecture and style.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Largo da Oliveira and Parque da Cidade do Porto. Spend the 11th (Wed) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. Dedicate the 12th (Thu) to wine at some of the top wineries in the area. Next up on the itinerary: take in the views from Ponte de Dom Luis I and take some stellar pictures from Porto Bridge Climb.

You can fly from Lisbon to Porto in 2.5 hours. Other options are to take a train; or drive. In September, Porto is slightly colder than Lisbon - with highs of 27°C and lows of 15°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 13th (Fri) so you can take a train to Coimbra.
