As the busy capital of São Miguel, Ponta Delgada represents the most visited place on the island. Known for its historical buildings, the city offers 17th- and 18th-century convents and churches, as well as cobbled pedestrian streets and hidden squares.
Kick off your visit on the 13th (Tue): explore the striking landscape at Caldeira das Sete Cidades and then get great views at Boca do Inferno Viewpoint. Keep things going the next day: take in the natural beauty of Caldeiras Vulcânicas, take in the dramatic natural features at Poca Da Dona Beija, and then contemplate the waterfront views at Lagoa do Fogo.

Start off your visit on the 15th (Thu): step into the grandiose world of Guimaraes Castle, explore the historical opulence of Paco dos Duques de Braganca, then make a trip to Centro Historico de Guimaraes, and finally contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Bom Jesus do Monte.
