Built on seven hills, Lisbon has experienced a renaissance in recent years, making it the cultural star of Portugal.
Attractions like Lisbon Oceanarium and Belém Tower make great kid-friendly stops. Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Lisbon: Cabo da Roca (in Colares) and Sintra (Câmara Municipal & Quinta da Regaleira). Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to Lisbon is an approximately 13.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of bus and flight. The time zone changes from Brasilia Time to Western European Time, which is usually a 3 hour difference. In January, Lisbon is cooler than Rio de Janeiro - with highs of 17°C and lows of 9°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 24th (Fri) so you can catch the train to Evora.

The city of Evora functions as a museum of Roman origins and medieval times.
Start off your visit on the 25th (Sat): steep yourself in history at Walls of Evora, get outside with Evora Public Garden, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Capela dos Ossos, then explore the ancient world of Centro Historico de Evora, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Templo Romano de Evora (Templo de Diana), and finally take in the spiritual surroundings of Igreja de Nossa Senhora de Graca. On your second day here, surround yourself with nature on a nature and wildlife tour, explore the ancient world of Cromeleque dos Almendres, don't miss a visit to Praca do Giraldo, then make a trip to Medieval Arcades of Evora, and finally pause for some serene contemplation at Igreja de Sao Francisco.

You can take a train from Lisbon to Evora in 1.5 hours. Other options are to drive; or take a bus. In January, daily temperatures in Evora can reach 17°C, while at night they dip to 6°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 26th (Sun) to allow time to drive to Albufeira.

Traveling from Evora in January, Albufeira is somewhat warmer at night with lows of 10°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 30th (Thu) to allow enough time to travel to Porto.

Called "Oporto" by many, the city of Porto along the Duoro River lent the country and Port wine their names. Portugal's second-largest metropolis dates back to the 4th century, representing both a rich cultural past and industrial present through its architecture and style.
Attractions like Exploratorio - Centro Ciencia Viva de Coimbra and Portugal dos Pequenitos make great kid-friendly stops. Go for a jaunt from Porto to Coimbra to see Torre da Universidade de Coimbra about 1h 50 min away. The adventure continues: snap pictures at Ponte de Dom Luis I, make a trip to Liberdade Square, enjoy breathtaking views from Torre dos Clerigos, and get advice or help at Livraria Lello.
