Venice of the North

Known as one of the greatest small cities in the world, Amsterdam charms visitors with its cool and cozy atmosphere.
For shopping fun, head to The Mauritshuis Royal Picture Gallery or De Kaaskamer. Van Gogh Museum and Rijksmuseum are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Change things up with these side-trips from Amsterdam: museum Beelden aan Zee (in Scheveningen), The Hague (Haags Historisch Museum & Galerie Pulchri) and Delft (Museum Prinsenhof Delft, Old Church, &more). There's still lots to do: take a stroll through The Jordaan, get engrossed in the history at Anne Frank House, browse the eclectic array of goods at Albert Cuyp Market, and get a taste of the local shopping with Leidseplein.
