One of the world's most ancient cities, Athens remains Europe's undisputed historical and cultural capital.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Temple of Hephaestus and Erechtheion. Acropolis of Athens and Philopappos Hill will appeal to history buffs. Step out of Athens with an excursion to Asteras Glyfada Beach in Glyfada--about 36 minutes away.
