Built surrounding a 16th-century fortified port, Alghero remains one of Sardinia's most visited sites, rich in cultural and historical heritage.
We've included these beaches for you: Punta Negra and Spiaggia Mari Ermi. Get a sense of the local culture at Nuraghe Sant'Antine and Santa Trinita di Saccargia. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Alghero: I Gatti di Su Pallosu (in San Vero Milis) and La Pelosa Beach (in Stintino). There's still lots to do: kick back and relax at Spiaggia delle Bombarde.

Baunei is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Nuoro in the Italian island of Sardinia.GeographyThe municipality of Baunei is located about 100km northeast of Cagliari and about 11km north of Tortolì. Step out of the city life by going to Immersioni a Cala Mariolu and Cala dei Gabbiani. Relax by the water at Cala Biriala and Cala Goloritzè. There's more to do: kick back and relax at Cala Mariolu and look for all kinds of wild species at Grotta del Fico.

Traveling by car from Alghero to Baunei takes 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of train and car; or take a bus. Expect a bit warmer evenings in Baunei when traveling from Alghero in August, with lows around 26°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 4th (Sat) to allow enough time to travel to Portoferraio.

Portoferraio is a town and comune in the province of Livorno, on the edge of the eponymous harbour of the island of Elba. Your itinerary includes some good beach time at Spiaggia Luigi d'Angelo and Spiaggia del Relitto. Visiting Spiaggia delle Tombe and Spiaggia Di Sansone will get you outdoors. When in Portoferraio, make a side trip to see Spiaggia di Cavoli in Seccheto, approximately 36 minutes away. There's still lots to do: tour the pleasant surroundings at Spiaggia di Seccione and kick back and relax at Spiaggia Canata.

You can do a combination of car and ferry from Baunei to Portoferraio in 9 hours. Another option is to do a combination of bus and ferry. When traveling from Baunei in August, plan for slightly colder days and about the same nights in Portoferraio: temperatures range from 33°C by day to 23°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 8th (Wed) so you can travel to Florence.
