Kick off your visit on the 15th (Wed): make a trip to Trevi Fountain, admire the striking features of Pantheon, then appreciate the extensive heritage of Piazza Navona, then steep yourself in history at Roman Forum, and finally steep yourself in history at Palatine Hill.
