Capital of the Inca Empire for three centuries, World Heritage-listed Cusco is now a major tourist destination, drawing nearly 2 million annual tourists with its well-preserved colonial architecture and proximity to Machu Picchu.
On the 10th (Fri), head outdoors with Outdoor Activities, then steep yourself in history at Plaza de Armas, and then explore the world behind art at Museo de Arte Precolombino. On the 11th (Sat), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: steep yourself in history at Sacsayhuaman and then admire the striking features of Centro Historico De Cusco.

San Juan, Puerto Rico to Cusco is an approximately 10.5-hour flight. The time zone difference moving from Atlantic Standard Time (AST) to Peru Time (PET) is minus 1 hour. When traveling from San Juan in January, plan for slightly colder days in Cusco, with highs around 22°C, while nights are much colder with lows around 9°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 11th (Sat) so you can catcht the bus to Ollantaytambo.

Hugging the western tip of Lake Titicaca, Puno serves as a melting pot of indigenous and imported cultures, and makes a great base for explorations around the region.
Start off your visit on the 16th (Thu): step off the mainland to explore Uros Floating Islands and then head off the coast to Taquile Island. Here are some ideas for day two: contemplate the waterfront views at Lake Titicaca, then appreciate the history behind Arco Deustua, and then steep yourself in history at La Casa del Corregidor.

You can drive from Machu Picchu to Puno in 11.5 hours. Other options are to take a bus; or do a combination of train and bus. In January in Puno, expect temperatures between 20°C during the day and 5°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 17th (Fri) to allow enough time to travel to Lima.

Founded in 1535 by Spanish explorer Francisco Pizarro, Lima represents an interesting blend of modern attractions and preserved colonial architecture, much of it clustered in the World Heritage-listed city center.
Kick off your visit on the 18th (Sat): take an in-depth tour of Museo Larco, then contemplate the long history of Huaca Pucllana, then pause for some serene contemplation at Iglesia y Convento de San Francisco, and finally wander the streets of Miraflores. On the 19th (Sun), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: get a dose of the wild on a nature and wildlife tour and then browse the exhibits of Galeria Indigo.

You can fly from Puno to Lima in 4 hours. Other options are to do a combination of train and flight; or drive. Traveling from Puno in January, you will find days in Lima are a bit warmer (31°C), and nights are much warmer (24°C). Wrap up your sightseeing on the 19th (Sun) to allow time to take a bus to Ica.

Located on the Ica River in the desert areas of Peru's southern coast, the city of Ica stands as something of an oasis in the dry, barren landscape.
Get some cultural insight at Tacama and Regional Museum of Ica. Take a break from Ica with a short trip to Off-Road Tours in Paracas, about 1h 20 min away. There's still lots to do: push the limits with an extreme tour, explore the activities along Oasis of Huacachina, don't miss a visit to Plaza de Armas, and examine the collection at Javier Cabrera Scientific Museum.
