Built on seven hills, Lisbon has experienced a renaissance in recent years, making it the cultural star of Portugal.
Appreciate the collections at National Tile Museum and National Museum of Ancient Art. Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Castelo dos Mouros and Jeronimos Monastery. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Lisbon: Sintra (Quinta da Regaleira, Park and National Palace of Pena, & more). There's still lots to do: wander the streets of Alfama, explore the world behind art at Museu Colecao Berardo, steep yourself in history at Belém Tower, and learn about all things military at Museum of National Republican Guard.

Though the town of Sagres has roots in the Portuguese Age of Discovery, it is better known by visitors as a peaceful, rugged resort spot with great surfing beaches.
Kick off your visit on the 13th (Tue): kick back and relax at Telheiro Beach, then steep yourself in history at Belixe Fortress, then steep yourself in history at Fortaleza de Sagres, and finally visit a coastal fixture at Cape Saint Vincent.

Called "Oporto" by many, the city of Porto along the Duoro River lent the country and Port wine their names. Portugal's second-largest metropolis dates back to the 4th century, representing both a rich cultural past and industrial present through its architecture and style.
Let the collections at Museu Serralves and Museu Nacional de Soares dos Reis capture your imagination. Porto Cathedral (Se Catedral) and Igreja da Ordem Terceira de São Francisco are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Dedicate the 19th (Mon) to wine at some of the top wineries in the area.
