Called "Oporto" by many, the city of Porto along the Duoro River lent the country and Port wine their names. Portugal's second-largest metropolis dates back to the 4th century, representing both a rich cultural past and industrial present through its architecture and style.
Kick off your visit on the 19th (Sun): take in the architecture and atmosphere at Church of Santa Clara (Igreja de Santa Clara), see the interesting displays at FC Porto Museum, and then get to know the fascinating history of Largo da Oliveira. On the 20th (Mon), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: take in the spiritual surroundings of Capela das Almas, thenlet the river carry you with a rafting and tubing tour, and then step into the grandiose world of Paco dos Duques de Braganca.

The allure of the beaches and the town's historical center draw visitors to Lagos, a coastal destination in the Barlavento region of the Algarve.
Take a break from the city and head to Ponta da Piedade and Cape Sardao. Do some cultural sightseeing at Lagos Farol da Ponta da Piedade and Antigo Mercado de Escravos. Get out of town with these interesting Lagos side-trips: Praia de Almograve (in Almograve), Praia do Castelejo (in Vila do Bispo) and Capela de Nossa Senhora do Mar (in Zambujeira do Mar). Built on seven hills, Lisbon has experienced a renaissance in recent years, making it the cultural star of Portugal.
Get outdoors at Parque Natural da Arrabida and Palacio Nacional de Mafra. Get a sense of the local culture at Mosteiro dos Jeronimos and Castelo de S. Jorge.
