Spend time in one of Europe's oldest cities, the vibrant Bulgarian capital of Sofia.
On the 15th (Mon), take an in-depth tour of National Institute of Archaeology with Museum, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at The Rotunda of St George (Sveti Georgi), then take in the spiritual surroundings of Saint Sofia Church, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Cathedral Saint Alexandar Nevski, and finally admire the landmark architecture of Saint Nedelja Church. Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to Sofia is an approximately 19-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and bus. The time zone changes from Brasilia Time (BRT) to Eastern European Time (EET), which is usually a 5 hour difference. Though it is often seen as merely a stopover city, Plovdiv is actually a lively university town with bohemian cafes, a thriving art scene, and exciting nightlife.
On the 17th (Wed), contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Bachkovo Monastery, contemplate the long history of Assen's Fortress, pause for some serene contemplation at St. Bogoroditsa Petrichka Church, examine the collection at Ethnographic Museum, then pause for some serene contemplation at "St. st.
