Built on seven hills, Lisbon has experienced a renaissance in recent years, making it the cultural star of Portugal.
Do some cultural sightseeing at Park and National Palace of Pena and Belém Tower. Popular historic sites such as Castelo de S. Jorge and Castelo dos Mouros are in your itinerary. Get out of town with these interesting Lisbon side-trips: Cabo da Roca (in Colares) and Sintra (Quinta da Regaleira & Palacio Nacional de Sintra). You can take a train from Lisbon to Evora in 1.5 hours. Other options are to drive; or take a bus. While traveling from Lisbon, expect somewhat warmer days and about the same nights in Evora, ranging from highs of 87°F to lows of 58°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 25th (Tue) early enough to go by car to Coimbra.

The university town of Coimbra exudes modern flair while embracing its roots as the medieval capital of Portugal.
Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Igreja e Mosteiro da Santa Cruz and Old Monestary of Santa Clara. Do some cultural sightseeing at Old Cathedral of Coimbra (Se Velha de Coimbra) and University of Coimbra. Change things up with these side-trips from Coimbra: Praia da Figueira (Figueira Beach) (in Figueira da Foz) and Praia da Costa Nova (in Ilhavo). Called "Oporto" by many, the city of Porto along the Duoro River lent the country and Port wine their names. Portugal's second-largest metropolis dates back to the 4th century, representing both a rich cultural past and industrial present through its architecture and style.
Popular historic sites such as Porto Cathedral (Se Catedral) and Monumento aos Herois da Guerra Peninsular are in your itinerary. Get some cultural insight at Capela das Almas and Taylor's Port. Step out of Porto to go to Lamego and see Quinta Santa Eufemia, which is approximately 1h 30 min away. Dedicate the 1st (Mon) to wine at some of the top wineries in the area. There's lots more to do: take in the views from Ponte de Dom Luis I, do a tasting at Graham's Port Lodge, kick back and relax at Praia de Lavadores, and tour the pleasant surroundings at Praia do Carneiro.

You can take a train from Coimbra to Porto in an hour. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. In June in Porto, expect temperatures between 73°F during the day and 57°F at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 1st (Mon) so you can drive to Tomar.
