Virtually unchanged for the last six centuries, Venice is actually a group of islands made famous by a series of canals, bridges, monuments, piazzas, and narrow pedestrian lanes.
Appreciate the collections at Doge's Palace and Peggy Guggenheim Collection. Visit Basilica di San Marco and Scrovegni Chapel for their historical value. When in Venice, make a side trip to see Basilica di Sant’Antonio in Padua, approximately 54 minutes away. There's still lots to do: appreciate the extensive heritage of St. Mark's Square, examine the collection at Museo Ebraico di Venezia, explore the world behind art at Gallerie dell'Accademia, and take in the views from Ponte di Rialto.
