Called "Oporto" by many, the city of Porto along the Duoro River lent the country and Port wine their names. Portugal's second-largest metropolis dates back to the 4th century, representing both a rich cultural past and industrial present through its architecture and style.
You'll enjoy a bit of beach vacationing at Praia do Carneiro and Praia do Homem do Leme. Get a sense of the local culture at Palacio da Bolsa and Igreja da Ordem Terceira de São Francisco. There's lots more to do: take in the spiritual surroundings of Porto Cathedral (Se Catedral), take in the architecture and atmosphere at Igreja dos Carmelitas, take in the views from Ponte de Dom Luis I, and kick back and relax at Praia de Lavadores.

Sao Paulo, Brazil to Porto is an approximately 14.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and train; or do a combination of bus and flight. You'll get in some beach time at Cabanas de Tavira beach and Praia Verde. Head to Ex Libris Gourmet and Tavira d'Artesfor plenty of shopping. Explore Tavira's surroundings by going to Caramelo beach (in Vila Real de Santo Antonio) and Praia da Alagoa (in Altura). The adventure continues: enjoy the sand and surf at Praia de Monte Gordo, contemplate the long history of Fort of Cacela, and tour the pleasant surroundings at Costabeach Tavira Island and Tours.

Built on seven hills, Lisbon has experienced a renaissance in recent years, making it the cultural star of Portugal.
Castelo dos Mouros and Jeronimos Monastery are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Give yourself a bit of retail therapy at Museu Calouste Gulbenkian and Avenida da Liberdade. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Lisbon: Sintra (Quinta da Regaleira, Park and National Palace of Pena, & more). Next up on the itinerary: meet the residents at Lisbon Oceanarium, steep yourself in history at Castelo de S. Jorge, browse the eclectic array of goods at Feira da Ladra, and make a trip to Rossio Square.
