Ponta Delgada, Sao Miguel

Ponta Delgada ©
As the busy capital of São Miguel, Ponta Delgada represents the most visited place on the island. Known for its historical buildings, the city offers 17th- and 18th-century convents and churches, as well as cobbled pedestrian streets and hidden squares.
Get outdoors at Caldeiras Vulcânicas and Dolphin & Whale Watching. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Furnas and Scuba & Snorkeling. Step out of Ponta Delgada to go to Furnas and see Poca Da Dona Beija, which is approximately 50 minutes away. Next up on the itinerary: make a trip to Portas da Cidade, identify plant and animal life at Caldeira Velha Environmental Interpretation Centre, appreciate the history behind Estatua Goncalo Velho Cabral, and take some stellar pictures from Boca do Inferno Viewpoint.

For more things to do, where to stay, photos, and other tourist information, refer to the Ponta Delgada tour itinerary maker website.
