Ishigaki, the most populous island in the chain, features the country's southernmost city and acts as a transport hub for exploring the landmasses that surround.
For shopping fun, head to Ibaruma Farm Fruits Chokubaijo or Nei Museum of Art. You'll get in some beach time at Yonehara Beach and Shiraho Beach. There's lots more to do: kick back and relax at Kondoi Beach, head outdoors with Sukuji Beach, glide peacefully along the water with some of the best stand-up paddleboarding in the area, and relax and rejuvenate at some of the best spas.

You'll get in some beach time at Yonaha Maehama Beach and Toguchi no Hama. Step out of the city life by going to Hora Gyoko no Hama Beach and Aragusuku Beach. Next up on the itinerary: enjoy the sand and surf at Sunayama Beach, head outdoors with Tomori Imugya Beach, discover the deep blue sea with a scuba or snorkeling tour, and step off the mainland to explore Kouri Island.

Getting from Ishigaki to Miyakojima by flight takes about 2.5 hours. In March, plan for daily highs up to 72°F, and evening lows to 63°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 26th (Fri) so you can travel to Hiroshima.
