Built on seven hills, Lisbon has experienced a renaissance in recent years, making it the cultural star of Portugal.
Jeronimos Monastery and Museu Calouste Gulbenkian are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Visit Belém Tower and Cabo da Roca for their historical value. Spend the 25th (Fri) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. There's still lots to do: contemplate the long history of Castelo de S. Jorge, wander the streets of Avenida da Liberdade, and explore the world behind art at National Tile Museum.

Florianopolis, Brazil to Lisbon is an approximately 15.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of shuttle and flight; or do a combination of bus, taxi, and flight. The time zone changes from Brasilia Time to Western European Time, which is usually a 3 hour difference. Prepare for cooler weather when traveling from Florianopolis in January: high temperatures in Lisbon hover around 17°C and lows are around 9°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 26th (Sat) so you can travel to Eindhoven.

Get a sense of the local culture at Maastricht Underground and St. John's Cathedral. Get out of town with these interesting Eindhoven side-trips: Castle Ruins & Velvet Cave (in Valkenburg), Vrijthof (in Maastricht) and Designer Outlet Roermond (in Roermond). Next up on the itinerary: brush up on your knowledge of spirits at Bottle Distillery and examine the collection at Philips Museum.
