Called "Oporto" by many, the city of Porto along the Duoro River lent the country and Port wine their names. Portugal's second-largest metropolis dates back to the 4th century, representing both a rich cultural past and industrial present through its architecture and style.
Get some cultural insight at Sameiro Sanctuary and Largo da Oliveira. Explore hidden gems such as Se de Braga and Capela das Almas. Step out of Porto with an excursion to Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Oliveira in Guimaraes--about 58 minutes away. Spend the 6th (Thu) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. There's much more to do: take in the spiritual surroundings of Porto Cathedral (Se Catedral), walk around Parque da Cidade do Porto, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Igreja de Santo Antonio dos Congregados, and enjoy breathtaking views from Torre dos Clerigos.

Bergen, Norway to Porto is an approximately 8.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of train, bus, and taxi. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 1 hour traveling from Bergen to Porto. Traveling from Bergen in June, expect Porto to be a bit warmer, temps between 26°C and 16°C. You will have some time to spend on the 7th (Fri) before leaving for Coimbra.

Kick off your visit on the 7th (Fri): contemplate the long history of Portugal dos Pequenitos and then enjoy the scholastic atmosphere at University of Coimbra. On your second day here, take in the spiritual surroundings of Old Cathedral of Coimbra (Se Velha de Coimbra), steep yourself in history at Sala dos Capelos, admire the landmark architecture of Torre da Universidade de Coimbra, see the interesting displays at Museu da Ciencia, then make a trip to Universidade de Coimbra Alta & Sofia, and finally take in the architecture and atmosphere at Chapel of St Michael.

You can take a train from Porto to Coimbra in an hour. Other options are to drive; or take a bus. In June, daytime highs in Coimbra are 28°C, while nighttime lows are 16°C. You will have some time to spend on the 9th (Sun) before leaving for Sintra.

Expect a bit warmer weather when traveling from Coimbra in June: highs in Sintra hover around 32°C, while lows dip to 18°C. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 12th (Wed) to allow enough time to take a bus to Lisbon.
