Tokyo holds the status of most populous metropolitan area in the world--a fact you'll find tangible as you walk the bustling streets and explore its diverse neighborhoods and cultures.
Get out of town with these interesting Tokyo side-trips: Hakone-machi (Lake Ashi (Ashinoko) & The Hakone Open-Air Museum) and Kamakura (Kōtoku-in & Samuraikibun Kamakura). There's still lots to do: make a trip to Meiji Jingu Shrine, wander the streets of Odaiba, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Senso-ji Temple, and take in panoramic vistas at Tokyo Skytree.

Recife, Brazil to Tokyo is an approximately 28- hour flight. You can also do a combination of bus and flight. The time zone changes from Brasilia Time to Japan Standard Time, which is usually a 12 hour difference. Expect much colder temperatures when traveling from Recife in December; daily highs in Tokyo reach 14°C and lows reach 4°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 16th (Wed) to allow enough time to take a train to Kanazawa.

Start off your visit on the 17th (Thu): examine the collection at Ishikawa Prefectural Museum for Traditional Products and Crafts, wander the streets of Higashichaya Old Town, explore the world behind art at 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, step into the grandiose world of Kanazawa Castle, then take in nature's colorful creations at Kenrokuen Garden, and finally make a trip to Kenrokuen no Yukizuri. Keep things going the next day: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Ninja Temple, steep yourself in history at Nomura Family Samurai House, stop by Nagamachi Neighborhood, admire the striking features of Tsuzumi Gate, then admire the landmark architecture of Kanazawa Station, and finally make a trip to Omicho Market.

Getting from Tokyo to Kanazawa by train takes about 2.5 hours. Other options: do a combination of flight and bus; or drive. While traveling from Tokyo, expect a bit cooler days and about the same nights in Kanazawa, ranging from highs of 11°C to lows of 3°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 18th (Fri) to allow time to take a train to Kyoto.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
You've now added Nijigen no Mori to your itinerary. Venture out of the city with trips to Nara (Todai-ji Temple, Kasuga Grand Shrine, &more). There's still lots to do: don't miss a visit to Kiyomizu-dera Temple, wander the streets of Gion, take in the spiritual surroundings of Sanjusangendo Temple, and step into the grandiose world of Nijo Castle.

The hilly port city of Nagasaki has become known internationally as one of the two Japanese cities to be destroyed by an atomic bomb towards the close of World War II.
Kick off your visit on the 25th (Fri): see the interesting displays at Nagasaki Peace Memorial Hall for the Atomic Bomb Victims, get engrossed in the history at Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum, contemplate the long history of Nagasaki Peace Park, then pause for some photo ops at Hypocenter of Atomic Bombing, then take a stroll through Shinchi Chinatown, and finally take in the spiritual surroundings of Kannondo. On your second day here, take in the views from Megane Bridge, get a sense of history and politics at Nagasaki Prefectural Government Observation Deck, take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Mt. Inasa, examine the collection at Dejima, then contemplate the long history of Glover Garden, and finally take in the spiritual surroundings of Catholic Church Hongouchi.
