You'll find plenty of places to visit near Cusco: Iglesia de Urubamba (in Urubamba) and Ollantaytambo (Qosqo Ayllu & Choco Museo). Hugging the western tip of Lake Titicaca, Puno serves as a melting pot of indigenous and imported cultures, and makes a great base for explorations around the region.
Start off your visit on the 20th (Mon): step off the mainland to explore Taquile Island and then explore the ancient world of Sillustani. Here are some ideas for day two: get some thrills on the water with a speed boat tour and then head off the coast to Uros Floating Islands.

Getting from Cusco to Puno by combination of flight and bus takes about 3 hours. Other options: drive; or take a bus. Traveling from Cusco in July, things will get little chillier in Puno: highs are around 64°F and lows about 23°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 21st (Tue) so you can drive to Arequipa.

Founded in 1535 by Spanish explorer Francisco Pizarro, Lima represents an interesting blend of modern attractions and preserved colonial architecture, much of it clustered in the World Heritage-listed city center.
Head to Shopping Center Larcomar (Centro Comercial Larcomar) and Galeria Indigofor some retail therapy. Do some cultural sightseeing at Museo Larco and Museo Convento San Francisco y Catacumbas. Change things up with a short trip to Iglesia de Santiago Apostol in Lunahuana (about 34 minutes away). There's lots more to do: delve into the distant past at Huaca Pucllana, pick up some local products at Feria EcoMarket, don't miss a visit to Miraflores, and view the masterpieces at La Kasa Roja.
