As the country's biggest port and one of the busiest in all of Europe, Hamburg has a well-deserved reputation as Germany's Gateway to the World.
Your inner history buff will appreciate Speicherstadt and Church of St. Michael. You'll discover tucked-away gems like Weltvogelpark Walsrode and Alter Elbtunnel. Get out of town with these interesting Hamburg side-trips: Lubeck (St. Petri zu Lubeck & Marienkirche) and Deutsches Auswandererhaus (in Bremerhaven). There's still lots to do: take a stroll around Elbphilharmonie and pick up some local products at Wochenmarkt am Goldbekufer.
