Built on seven hills, Lisbon has experienced a renaissance in recent years, making it the cultural star of Portugal.
National Museum of Ancient Art and Museu Condes de Castro will appeal to museum buffs. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Igreja de Sao Domingos ( Santa Justa e Rufina ) and Palácio Nacional da Ajuda. Explore Lisbon's surroundings by going to Praia Foz do Arelho (in Caldas da Rainha), Castelo de Palmela (in Palmela) and Palacio Nacional de Mafra (in Mafra). There's still lots to do: take in the spiritual surroundings of Santo Antonio de Lisboa, admire the masterpieces at Atelier-Museu Julio Pomar, admire the striking features of Panteao Nacional, and pause for some photo ops at Memorial as Vitimas do Massacre Judaico de 1506.

Drive from Lisbon to Evora in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or take a bus. In April, daily temperatures in Evora can reach 24°C, while at night they dip to 11°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 11th (Sat) so you can go by car to Faro.

The most well-known city in the Algarve, Faro boasts a cliffside location with popular beaches and a thriving cultural scene.
Let the collections at Centro Ciencia Viva do Algarve and Cerro da Vila capture your imagination. Get a sense of the local culture at Museu Municipal de Faro and Castelo de Mertola. Change things up with a short trip to Praia de Cacela Velha in Vila Nova de Cacela (about 48 minutes away). You'll discover tucked-away gems like Casa de Tormes - Museu Queirosiano and Ponte da Barca. You'll explore and learn at Casa do Infante and MMIPO - Museu da Misericordia do Porto. Get out of town with these interesting Porto side-trips: Granaries of Lindoso (in Ponte da Barca) and Sao Bento da Porta Aberta (in Terras de Bouro).
