You might consider the city of Budapest, divided by the Danube River into two distinctive cities--Buda and Pest--to be essentially one large World Heritage Site.
Fisherman's Bastion and Hungarian National Gallery (Magyar Nemzeti Galeria) are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Matthias Church and Hungarian National Museum will appeal to history buffs. And it doesn't end there: examine the collection at House of Terror Museum, admire the striking features of Hungarian Parliament Building, pause for some photo ops at Shoes on the Danube Bank, and explore the historical opulence of Vajdahunyad Castle (Vajdahunyadvar).
