Located at the confluence of the Moselle and the Seille rivers bordering Luxembourg and Germany, Metz has a cultural confluence as well with a merging of its French and German heritage and military traditions.
You'll explore and learn at Fort de Queuleu and Musee de la Faience. Le Temple Neuf and Museum of the War of 1870 and Annexation are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Explore Metz's surroundings by going to Fleury-devant-Douaumont (in Fleury-Devant-Douaumont), Fort Casso (in Bettviller) and Chattancourt (Mort-Homme & La Tranchee de Chattancourt). The adventure continues: examine the collection at Musee du Verre et du Cristal, contemplate the long history of Porte des Allemands, pause for some serene contemplation at Eglise de Sillegny, and witness the site of a historic battle at Group Fortifications of Aisne.

If you are flying in from Brazil, the closest major aiport is Metz-Nancy-Lorraine Airport. In September, plan for daily highs up to °C, and evening lows to °C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 11th (Wed) early enough to travel back home.
