Founded in the 10th century as a Viking fishing village, Copenhagen has morphed into the cultural, political, and economic powerhouse of the country.
You'll explore and learn at Louisiana Museum of Modern Art and National Museum of Denmark. Frederiksborg Castle and Roskilde Domkirke will appeal to history buffs. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Copenhagen: Viking Ship Museum (in Roskilde) and M/S Maritime Museum of Denmark (in Helsingoer). There's still lots to do: get to know the fascinating history of Nyhavn, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Frederiks Kirke (Marmorkirken), admire the masterpieces at The David Collection, and admire the striking features of Amalienborg.
