Salvador, Brazil to Lisbon is an approximately 12.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of bus and flight. The time zone changes from Brasilia Time to Western European Time, which is usually a 3 hour difference. Traveling from Salvador in July, expect slightly colder with lows of 20°C in Lisbon. You will have some time to spend on the 31st (Wed) before leaving for Rome.

Museum-lovers will appreciate Vatican Museums and Galleria Borghese. Do your shopping at Via Condotti and Art Gallery Roma. Take a break from Rome with a short trip to Villa Adriana in Tivoli, about 36 minutes away. Next up on the itinerary: delve into the distant past at Colosseum, appreciate the extensive heritage of Piazza Navona, wander the streets of Trastevere, and make a trip to Trevi Fountain.

Do your shopping at La Boqueria and Passeig de Gracia. Do some cultural sightseeing at Casa Batllo and Parc Guell. Spend the 7th (Wed) among aquatic life with a scuba or snorkeling tour. There's still lots to do: admire the striking features of Basilica of the Sagrada Familia, pause for some serene contemplation at Barcelona Cathedral, and wander the streets of El Barri Gòtic.

Getting from Rome to Barcelona by flight takes about 5.5 hours. Other options: drive; or take a train. When traveling from Rome in August, plan for a bit cooler days in Barcelona, with highs around 33°C, while nights are about the same with lows around 25°C. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 8th (Thu) to allow time for the train ride to Madrid.

Called "Oporto" by many, the city of Porto along the Duoro River lent the country and Port wine their names. Portugal's second-largest metropolis dates back to the 4th century, representing both a rich cultural past and industrial present through its architecture and style.
Get outdoors at Nature & Wildlife Tours and Rio Douro. Palacio da Bolsa and Museu Serralves are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Change things up with these side-trips from Porto: Museu Nacional de Machado de Castro (in Coimbra) and Bom Jesus do Monte (in Braga). Dedicate the 16th (Fri) to wine at some of the top wineries in the area. There's still lots to do: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Porto Cathedral (Se Catedral), admire the masterpieces at Museu Nacional de Soares dos Reis, don't miss a visit to Monumento aos Herois da Guerra Peninsular, and take in the views from Ponte de Dom Luis I.
