Recife, Brazil to Tokyo is an approximately 28- hour flight. You can also do a combination of bus and flight. You'll lose 12 hours traveling from Recife to Tokyo due to the time zone difference. Expect much colder temperatures when traveling from Recife in December; daily highs in Tokyo reach 14°C and lows reach 4°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 15th (Tue) early enough to take a train to Kanazawa.

You can take a train from Tokyo to Kanazawa in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of flight and bus; or drive. When traveling from Tokyo in December, plan for little chillier days in Kanazawa, with highs around 11°C, while nights are about the same with lows around 3°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 20th (Sun) to allow time to take a train to Kyoto.

The hilly port city of Nagasaki has become known internationally as one of the two Japanese cities to be destroyed by an atomic bomb towards the close of World War II.
Venture out of the city with trips to Yokan Museum (in Ogi), Nannyo Shrine (in Saga) and Huis Ten Bosch (in Sasebo). There's still lots to do: get engrossed in the history at Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Sōfuku-ji Temple, pause for some serene contemplation at Catholic Church Hongouchi, and ponder the world of politics at Nagasaki Prefectural Government Observation Deck.
