One of Europe's most culturally diverse cities, Stockholm extends over 14 islands, united by a series of tunnels and bridges.
Your itinerary includes some good beach time at Langholmen and Strandvagen. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Strandvagen and Monteliusvagen. There's still lots to do: get engrossed in the history at Royal Palace, step off the mainland to explore Stockholm Old Town, take in the spiritual surroundings of Storkyrkan, and explore the world behind art at Fotografiska Stockholm.

Traveling by train from Vasteras to Stockholm takes an hour. Alternatively, you can take a bus; or drive. In September, plan for daily highs up to 20°C, and evening lows to 9°C. On the 26th (Sat), you'll have the morning to explore before heading back home.
