Porto

— 4 nights

Unvanquished City

Called "Oporto" by many, the city of Porto along the Duoro River lent the country and Port wine their names. Portugal's second-largest metropolis dates back to the 4th century, representing both a rich cultural past and industrial present through its architecture and style.
Escape the urban bustle at River Rafting & Tubing and The Douro Valley. Discover out-of-the-way places like Largo da Oliveira and Church of Santa Clara. Get out of town with these interesting Porto side-trips: Aldeia do Talasnal (in Lousa), Miradouro de Sao Leonardo de Galafura (in Peso Da Regua) and Museu Monografico de Conimbriga (in Condeixa-a-Nova). There's much more to do: see the interesting displays at FC Porto Museum, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Torre dos Clerigos, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Porto Cathedral (Se Catedral), and kick back and relax at Praia da Costa Nova.
