Once the capital of Dutch Brazil, Recife has a history spanning back to 1537, when it was little more than a handful of fishing houses on the beach.
Relax by the water at Muro Alto Beach and Vila de Porto de Galinhas Beach. For shopping fun, head to Feira de Artesanato or Nata Artesanato. Take a break from Recife with a short trip to Piscinas Naturais de Porto de Galinhas in Porto de Galinhas, about 1h 20 min away. The adventure continues: see the interesting displays at Ricardo Brennand Institute, browse the different shops at RioMar Recife Mall, and get to know the fascinating history of Recife Antigo.
