Porto

Called "Oporto" by many, the city of Porto along the Duoro River lent the country and Port wine their names. Portugal's second-largest metropolis dates back to the 4th century, representing both a rich cultural past and industrial present through its architecture and style.
Porto is known for shopping, historic sites, and nightlife. Your plan includes some of its best attractions: snap pictures at Ponte de Dom Luis I, don't miss a visit to Liberdade Square, shop like a local with Livraria Lello, and let your taste buds guide you at a local gastronomic tour.

Vancouver, Canada to Porto is an approximately 15.5- hour flight. You can also do a combination of bus and flight; or do a combination of flight and train. Step out of Coimbra to go to Guimaraes and see Igreja e Convento de Sao Francisco, which is approximately 1h 15 min away. There's lots more to do: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Old Cathedral of Coimbra (Se Velha de Coimbra), make a trip to Praca do Comercio, tour the pleasant surroundings at Choupal National Forest, and take in the architecture and atmosphere at Chapel of St Michael.
