As the political and cultural capital of China, Beijing stands at the heart of Chinese history, buzzing with the energy of its high population density and centuries of importance.
Head to Nanluoguxiang and 798 Art Zonefor plenty of shopping. Get some cultural insight at Mutianyu Great Wall and Lama Temple (Yonghegong). There's much more to do: appreciate the extensive heritage of Summer Palace (Yiheyuan), shop like a local with Wang Fu Jing Da Jie, get engrossed in the history at The Palace Museum, and catch a live event at Olympic Park.

Billund, Denmark to Beijing is an approximately 16.5-hour flight. You can also drive. The time zone difference moving from Central European Standard Time (CET) to China Standard Time (CST) is 7 hours. Traveling from Billund in April, you will find days in Beijing are warmer (26°C), and nights are a bit warmer (9°C). Finish your sightseeing early on the 15th (Thu) to allow enough time to drive to Tianjin.

Tianjin stands as one of China's largest metropolises, combining modern flourishes with preserved history and traditions to create a diverse city.
Start off your visit on the 16th (Fri): look for gifts at NIREN Zhang Shop, browse the different shops at Ancient Culture Street (Gu Wenhua Jie), and then find something for the whole family at Shuishang Park. On the 17th (Sat), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: contemplate the long history of Printing Museum Building in Tianjin and then see Great Wall at Huangya Pass (Huangyaguan Changcheng).

Getting from Beijing to Tianjin by train takes about 2 hours. Other options: drive; or take a train; or take a bus. April in Tianjin sees daily highs of 25°C and lows of 11°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 17th (Sat) early enough to travel to Hangzhou.

Hangzhou, the scenic capital of Zheijang Province, remains a popular vacation choice for tourists interested in the area's numerous cultural and natural sights.
Get a sense of the local culture at Fei Lai Feng and Hangzhou Confucius Temple. Change things up with these side-trips from Hangzhou: Ningbo (Dragonfly Therapeutic Retreat (Ningbo Old Bund) & Tianyi Square). There's still lots to do: go for a walk through West Lake (Xi Hu), take an in-depth tour of Zhejiang Museum Wulin, steep yourself in history at Xiangji Temple, and stroll around West Lake Colored Port View Fish Garden.

Getting from Tianjin to Hangzhou by combination of subway and train takes about 8 hours. Other options: fly; or do a combination of subway and train; or drive. Traveling from Tianjin in April, Hangzhou is somewhat warmer at night with lows of 15°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 21st (Wed) early enough to drive to Suzhou.

One of the oldest settlements in the Yangtze basin, Suzhou remains a complex, labyrinthine set of old canal districts, World Heritage gardens, and sprawling modern developments.
Do some cultural sightseeing at Tongli Town and Shantang Street. Go for a jaunt from Suzhou to Kunshan to see Zhouzhuang Water Town about 56 minutes away. There's lots more to do: stroll around The Classical Gardens of Suzhou, shop like a local with Pingjiang Road, take in nature's colorful creations at The Lingering Garden, and examine the collection at Suzhou Museum.

Get out of town with these interesting Himeji side-trips: Awaji (Akashi Kaikyo National Government Park, Awaji Highway Oasis, &more) and Akashi (Kyu Hatosaki Torodo & Ruins of Akashi Castle). You'll lose 1 hour traveling from Shanghai to Himeji due to the time zone difference.
